5 Tips To Make A Career Change In The New Year – Forbes article

By: Caroline Castrillon Contributor | CAREERS

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are two biggies in the American lexicon. At this time of the year, we all consider making changes to better our lives. Many times, that comes from changing employers.

Over the last couple of decades, we’ve all had to come to grips with the “Job for Life” promise on which our parents and grandparents grew up with – that philosophy is pretty much gone now. We are all “free agents,” in charge of our own careers. No one works for the same organization from graduation until retirement any more. Also, many people would prefer to work at places where the mission of the organization is strongly aligned with their life goals – to make a difference in the world.

If this is you, you may want to review point number 4 in this article, and look for a life coach or a career coach. Since we don’t have a horse in your life’s race, we can hold you accountable, and we can help you look at things from an outsider’s viewpoint.

Over the last 15 years we’ve coached over 700 people. Many have come back to say “thank you – I really believe your approach worked!” I believe that when you're in job search, you're in sales. I'd really like the chance to show you what that means, and how we suggest you go about that.
