CTO – A leading publisher of children’s materials for library, classroom, and trade seeks a Chief Technology Officer to their senior leadership team in Edina, MN.

This company combines a passion for helping foster a powerful love of reading and learning with the talent to create award-winning books and media. Their library products are found in every school library nationwide and in children’s sections of public libraries around the country.

Their trade products are found in retail outlets throughout the world and are designed to foster a love of reading through engaging nonfiction and fiction content. Their rapidly growing classroom segment provides cutting edge instructional resources steeped in Common Core State Standards and standards for grade-level content, focused on research-based best practices for teaching and learning.

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) oversees vision, strategy, development and operations activities of software products as well as the development and implementation of enterprise IT systems in support of business operations for the company. The position will be accountable for day-to-day management of all digital products to include, Product Development, Product Enhancements, Development Operations, and Live Operations.

This individual will need to function at a strategic level of thinking while delivering tactical solutions. The CTO will enhance existing product software and envision improvements to the platform user interface, user experience and architectures while assisting in the creation of new digital product strategies.

The CTO is a “hands-on” manager for all aspects of software development, IT systems and business operations, and is aware of the latest trends in technology and applicability to the company’s products. This person is also responsible for user features, cost, quality, performance, reliability and serviceability of our solutions.

The CTO is responsible for the company infrastructure to ensure efficient and reliable network, security, and telecommunications, and that IT software and applications run efficiently and meet all business needs.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline. Master’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience leading software, product development and/or user engagement teams is preferred.
